Using the Assistant
The Appilot assistant understands the page you're on and provides targeted help based on your organization's knowledge.
Opening the assistant
Click the floating button in the bottom-right corner of any webpage. The side panel slides open with the conversation interface.
Asking questions
The assistant works best when you ask about what's currently on your screen:
- Form help: "What format does this date field expect?"
- Process guidance: "What are the next steps after submitting this form?"
- Field explanation: "What is the difference between these two options?"
- General help: "How do I reset my password on this platform?"
Tips for better answers
- Be specific: Instead of "help me", ask "what should I enter in the account number field?"
- Ask about what you see: The assistant knows your page context — use that
- Follow up: The conversation is persistent — you can ask follow-up questions
- Try different pages: The assistant adapts to each page you visit
Context awareness
Appilot automatically detects:
- Forms: Input fields, labels, validation rules, field types
- Page structure: Navigation, headings, sections
- URL patterns: Matches your page against configured domains and knowledge
This context is sent with your question so the AI can provide relevant answers, not generic ones.
Text selection menu
When you select text on any webpage, a floating menu appears with quick actions:
- Explain: Get an explanation of the selected text
- Translate: Translate the text to another language
- Ask: Use the selected text as context for a question
Conversation history
Your conversations are saved per session. You can:
- Scroll through previous messages
- Start a new conversation at any time
- See which page context was used for each answer
Audio input
Appilot supports voice input:
- Click the microphone icon in the chat input
- Speak your question
- The audio is transcribed and sent as a text question
- You receive a text response (with optional audio playback)
