Credits & Usage
Appilot uses AI Credits to measure your usage. Each interaction with the AI assistant consumes credits based on the complexity of the request.
How Credits Work
- 1 AI Credit represents a unit of AI processing power
- Simple questions (like "what is this page about?") use fewer credits
- Complex tasks (multi-step analysis, form filling guidance) use more credits
- Your credit balance is visible in the Chrome Extension panel and in My Account
Checking Your Balance
In the Chrome Extension
Your remaining credits are displayed in the panel header as a small badge. Click it to see a summary of your usage.
In My Account
Navigate to Credits & Usage in the sidebar to see:
- Your credit balance with a visual progress bar
- Daily usage chart (last 30 days)
- Usage breakdown by domain/application
- Transaction history showing each credit charge
Credit Types
Your credits come from different sources, each with different rules:

| Purchased credits | Bought as top-ups when you need more | Never expire |

| Trial credits | One-time allocation for new accounts | Never expire |
Credits are consumed in order from oldest to newest (FIFO). Expired plan credits are automatically skipped.

Spend Caps
You can set a monthly spend cap in your Credits & Usage page to prevent overage charges. When the cap is reached, the AI assistant will pause until the next billing cycle.
Organization-Sponsored Usage
If your organization covers your usage, you'll see a "Sponsored by [Organization Name]" banner. Your credits come from the organization's pool, and the org admin may set a per-user monthly cap.
Usage Visibility in the Extension
When your organization sponsors your usage, the extension Settings view shows:
- Org credits remaining — the organization's overall credit balance
- Your usage: X / Y credits — your personal consumption within the current billing period, relative to your per-user cap (if one is set)
This helps you stay aware of both the organization's budget and your individual consumption.
Error Messages
When credits are exhausted or capped, the extension shows a specific message depending on the situation:

| You have no credits | Your personal credit balance is empty. Top up or subscribe to continue. |
| Organization out of credits | Your organization's credit pool is exhausted. Contact your admin. |
| Per-user cap exceeded | You've reached your personal credit limit for this billing period. |
These differentiated messages help you understand whether the issue is on your side or the organization's, and what action to take.
